THIS WEEK'S FOCUS
Students and Parents,
This week we will focus on reviewing key information from the past unit in order to prepare for our upcoming UNIT TEST on Friday February 13. The main contents covered will be as follows Cell Theory, Cell Organelles, Cell Membrane and Transport, Macromolecules, the Properties of Water, pH, and Chemical Reactions and Enzymes. Students teach your parents, parents ask you children to explain the main topics (just to summarize the basics).

Today's lesson 1/29
Today,
We reviewed the concepts of Cell Transport (Active Transport and Passive Transport). Using perfume, and a jar of water with food coloring we demonstrated the process of diffusion. Using metaphors of students needing a parent to get them into a RATED R movie compared to a protein channel in the cell membrane helping a large molecule into a cell. We also used a submarine and Gatorade in order to compare the properties of Osmosis.
After Cell Transport review, we investigated the process of Cell Reproduction in Mitosis using a reading text and collaborating to construct a detailed summary of the article.

A Fresh New Start!!
Hello Students and Parents,
This is a Brand New semester, which brings New Opportunity! Let's start off strong by coming prepared with basic supplies (pencils/pens and paper) and a New attitude geared toward learning and overcoming challenges to achieve success in all you do. I look forward to a challenging, but rewarding semester!
Here are a few Keys that will help parents and students follow the agenda outlines:
HW= Homework=assignments that are to be done at home (before returning to class), CL= Closing=Summarizing activities at the end of the class to clarify the meaning of the lesson), O=Opening=Either a Warm up or Activator, which are used to get students focused and provoke inquiry (questions), NHWF's= No Homework Fridays.
